Water proofing question

Ok, I'm fairly new to this forum, and I think I might have posted this a tad "deep" (binoculars->others). Therefore, I'm reposting it here:

I just ordered a pair of Bresser binoculars (condor 10*42), and I was thinking to myself: Wouldn't it be a good idea to try to seal the "seams" in the rubber coating before I even started using them? So if anyone has any input on this, I'd appreciate it!

Also, any comments about the brand itself would be very interesting. I haven't even gotten them yet...

Anyway, that's all. Take care!

It seems a good idea on the surface - but if it were practicable and useful, I expect Bresser might have done it, don't you? You would also void the manufacturer's warranty, I should think.

I agree with Steve but would add that in my case I just don't go out when its raining because even if the bins are water proof it seems to me that rain falling on the object lenses would ruin the view anyway and i'm a wimp weather wise.
