What Binoculars

Hi, I have just joined the forum, so please be gentle with me.
I have just bought a new canon350 camera and love it. I was on holiday last week and took a few photos of birds what I really enjoyed doing. So I am thinking of buying a pair of Binoculars. I have no idea about them. What do the numbers after them mean? I would also like some advise on a good buy up to a max of £100. But the lower the better
Any help would be great.

Neil

hello

I'd say you need to track down a pair of bushnell nature view plus 8x42
porro prisms,I wouldn't consider any roof prism types at this price range.
reason being that roofs need more internal glass prisms(mirrors) to enable the smaller more compact design.
Porro prism bins might look old fashioned to some but most on this forum
would agree that porros give a better more natural image for less money
compared with roof prisms.
The bushnells cost around £120,but can be purchased from warehouse express for £89(link below),they are also selling old model bausch and lomb
legacy porros for less than half price at £69,never handled these myself so can't comment.
Another model you might consider is the excellent opticron tga 7 or 8x42
porro (use these myself) which can be had for around £120 from mail order.

Lastly I strongly advise you try models out for yourself at a well stocked optics store,if possible.then maybe bag a bargain on the net!

best of luck which ever you choose.
