What characteristics seperate the "Top Gun" binoculars from the rest of the pack?

I just want to get everybodies ideas on why they buy "Top Gun" binoculars? What really separates a $1000.00 plus binocular from a $500.00 binocular and why they think it is worth that extra cash. Is it build quality, ergonomics ? If it is optical quality what characteristic is it? Resolution, FOV, contrast or lack of CA? Let's get some ideas!

Speaking only of optical performance I would say it is contrast. Nothing else I have compares to them for that deep, saturated, vivid color that I get out of my Zeiss and Leica's.

BTW I have a $54 pair of Nikon Action 7x35s that compare very well with my Zeiss 7x42s in on axis optical performance the most obvious difference being the superior contrast of the Zeiss.

Whither they are worth difference in price I leave up to you.
