I've now got enough equipment that insuring them would be sensible...
Are there any companies specialising in insuring birder's gear?
Can anyone recommend a good company?
Personally I have my gear covered under my home contents insurance (with Norwich Union). I have my bins, scope and camera kit all as named items on the policy, they are covered both at home and when out and about. When I added them as named items there was no extra charge, so it might be worth looking into this if you have contents insurance already.
I did have a camera broken when out birding and claimed for it on my insurance, all was sorted very quickly with no hassle.
My household insurance - Nationwide - covers items up to £1500 without naming them, including upto 60 days abroad and in a locked boot.
