I am interested in upgrading to a better pair of binoculars eventually but have this question in mind. How long will it be before a new line of binoculars (8x42 or 8x32) will come out from Leica, Swaro etc.?
What's wrong with the current crop? If any of them satisfy you now, they should still satisfy you several model changes into the future. One thing you can be sure of: the next models will cost more, possibly lots more. I wouldn't be surprised to see US$2500 for the next Swarovski top-line binocular.

Hi
There is talk here on the forum about possible Zeiss FL 7 x32 but a 7 x is not everyone's cup of tea
Leica Nikon and Swarovski all seem to have relatively recent models on the go albeit with subtle changes here and there
If one of these major companies (other than Zeiss) were to try an FL or ED based new design or perhaps variants on image stabilisation then something interesting could well emerge
As ever who really knows its always a gamble whether to "jump in" or wait for new specs
One great thing is that whenever new models appear great bargains can often be had with the last model (which in many instances is a fantastic binocular anyway)
