Which binos are you comfortable holding roof or porro ?

I have been using binos more lately and for me porro are more comfortable holding for longer without any muscle fatigue.

With roof binos, my muscles - don't know what they are called, upper arms do hurt after few minutes.

With porro no hurting at all. How is for everyone else ?

I remember reading or being told that heavier binoculars are steadier. From my own experience this year with twenty pairs of binoculars, current and vintage, I find this not to be the case. My most user-friendly glass is the first Swift Audubon roof in 7x,35. My Zeiss T*FL is a better OPTIC, but even it is a little clunky by comparison. The Swift Eaglet 7x,36 is only slightly behind the Audubon in comfort of use. I suspect the difference is generic (I just happen to collect Swifts): 35mm gives you enough resolution for most optical applications while cutting out a proportionately greater amount of glass/weight. As far as weight around the neck, even a little 8x30 porro can bite fiercely if you use the skinny original strap. I see people with mini-roofs on CORD straps: it rather cancels lightness on anything longer than the briefest of walks, and I see birders having to hold them rather than let them hang.

I should add that there's just more to hold onto on a fair sized porro: you're not artificially gripping two tiny tubes. But for me, at least, that comfort fails to compensate for the weight after a few minutes.

rd....how long do u hold the glasses on a target at a time?
