Zeiss 8x42 FL vs Nikon 8x42 HGl what's the verdict? Pros and Cons? I'am going to buy one of these ,but i can't decide which one.
I know Zeiss is very bright and have a wide FOV, but Nikon is also bright and have a smaller FOV but a better edge sharpness. unlike some other bino users i prefer a sharp edge ,but i also like a bright view......
Have anyone compared these two binos? I know Zeiss have improved optics from the "older" Victory model ,but have Nikon improved optics in the new HGL or is it just lighter?
Hi Laika
I'd be more than happy with either of these bins
what would swing it for me would be which of these will wear better in tough conditions: extreme heat and cold, jungle moisture etc...trouble is it often takes a while for this sort of info to arise.
For the recored my 15-year-old Dialyts are in good condition despite being taken to many difficult environments including a long spell in the tropics while my Nikons of two years are already looking a bit battered after just two years with lifting rubber etc...

Greetings!
Apples and oranges. If you prefer edge sharpness, the Nikon is probably the better binocular for you. If chromatic aberration bothers you, go with the Zeiss. With the new HGL construction, weight is no longer an issue... I've tried the new HGL and it feels very light, especially with the great ergonomics of the HG series in general.
I personally am going for the Zeiss, due to the availability of a 7x model. Nikon has not offered a 7x HG for some reason, so I'm voting with my $$$.
Best wishes,
