zen ed vs promaster ed focusing knob

are the focusing issues in cold weather the same with the promasters as the zen eds?

I guess so. Both focus mechanisms on mine are pretty much identical, but I have "issues" with neither as far as hot or cold weather. I'd like a faster focus wheel rate, but what is there certainly works for me,

I'm pretty sure there's a mix of product sample variation and user expectation in this mix.

I have a lighter weight focusing Hawke, a intermediate Promaster and a very slightly heavier ZR.

And having sampled a few ZRs the early off the production line models varied in focus tension over the same range (the first one was too tight to be useable ... that bin was defective and was replaced ... see the ZR review thread). I suspect they might be more consistent now rather than the first couple of batches were they shook the bugs out of the production system.

None of these is far away from any of the other bins I have in Seattle temperate weather.

Though I think I prefer lighter-weight focusing (clearly I'm not as manly as Steve C but I have an RSI like problem with my focusing finger ). Of course it's another thing to obsess about.
