Hi, everyone. I'm new to this forum, but I've been lurking for the past couple of weeks, checking out some of the reviews. My question for you is this: Has anyone spent time with both the 2010 Zen Ray ZRS and the Leupold Cascades porro? I've been looking at quite a few different models, and these two are looking pretty good. I would really like to hear your opinions on them.
Mike
It can be challenging to find review to compare these two: for one, 2010 ZRS just came out; and secondly, not many people happen to have those two specific models. Having owned a couple of pairs from zen-ray, I think they know what they are doing when they replace the already-pretty-good ZRS. They have 30-day return policy. Just get one from them and a Cascade from Binoculars.com. This is the best way to find out whether it works for you or not.
I kind of figured it would hard finding someone who has had both, but had to give it a shot. The Cascades porro are only available NOS, not many still floating around out there. I have tried the Rogue and they fit me very well, but I would like something a bit more weatherproof, and maybe a bit better optically. Steve C recommended the Zens over on the OT forum, and they look impressive on paper, I'm just a hands on kind of guy and no one around here is a Zen Ray dealer. No surprise, I guess, as they are a fairly new brand.
On the other hand, either would be an improvement over my current bins, 20+ yr old Tasco 7x35's.
